Today Wapping has been awash with numerous accounts of an incident in Prusom Street very early this morning when the police were called to a fight and general disturbance.
Update 17:49hrs 30 June 2017
Tower Hamlets police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the disturbance to contact them. Anyone with information is requested to contact DS Mason at Bethnal Green Police Station on 0208 217 4150 quoting crime reference 4218115/17.
Both What’s in Wapping and Love Wapping attended the scene later in the morning.
LW asked New Scotland Yard for a statement.

(Note: This is a fairly standard response from the NSY Press Bureau as they are very restricted in what they can say because of any future prosecutions.)
Comments from Wapping residents
Residents reports were slightly more colourful than the police statement. Here are a select (edited) few.
“It was around 4.20…we heard lots of screaming from our flat…and then the police…quite scary to be honest”
“Road closed following a 5am fight. Police searching flats in Whitehorn House for culprits.”
“… the police are all the way up the top of Prusom Street a lot of shouting is going on as a bus came down the road & can’t turn back.”
“No definite facts. Lots of shouting and an erratically driven white hatchback. … police arrived, taped off area and about 10 of them forced their way into a flat.”
Many thanks to @MPSTowerHam for doing their thing this morning. Appreciated.
