Public guidance for what to do during a terrorist attack #RunHideTell

Blunt headline but we live in troubled times. Hard reality of life at the moment is that we all need to have some idea of how to behave if we should be caught up in a terrorist attack. Many of the victims of the Westminster attacks had no chance to react but that is not always going to be the case.

You can find the main official source of information for public guidance for what to do during firearms and weapons attacks here on the National Police Chief’s Council site.

‘Run, Hide, Tell’

The basic advice is pretty simple and some may think blindly obvious but when chaos strikes people’s minds tend to go blank.

We are advised to Run away if we can, if not then Hide in a safe place. Once you have done this then Tell the police what is happening using 999.

Here’s an information film too! Chin up chaps – it might never happen!

Attacks such as that in Westminster are very rare – but that is of no comfort if you happen to be in the middle of one.

Take five minutes to review the information provided, just to be on the safe side.

LW Comment – carry on and drink tea

In addition to the official information above LW feels it only right to lighten the tone a little with the completely fictitious Tube information sign which sums up the attitude of Londoners to terrorism perfectly.

“All terrorists are politely reminded that THIS IS LONDON and whatever you do to us we will drink tea and jolly well carry on. Thank you.

Or to put it rather more inelegantly – fuck em! #CarryOnDrinkTea
