How to steal a (Tower Hamlets Mayoral) election – Infographic

In April 2015 Lutfur Rahman, the first directly elected Executive Mayor of the London borough of Tower Hamlets, was found guilty of electoral fraud in the 2014 Mayoral election and banned from office for five years.

For the first time Love Wapping can illustrate how his Tower Hamlets First party stole that election. Some aspects of this are public knowledge, some are not. We thought the best way to explain how the whole system worked was by drawing a picture.

By pure chance today comes the news that Mr Rahman is seeking judicial review at the High Court of his conviction.

Commenting on the lack of inaction by the Metropolitan Police with regard to allegations against Mr Rahman, Ex-Communities Secretary Sir Eric Pickles told LBC News: “The police have rather dragged their feet and haven’t really understood the seriousness of what is going on.”

Sir Eric is the master of understatement.
