Police appeal for more information as victim of Globe Road assault fights for life in hospital

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Globe Road, Tower Hamlets, E2 are again asking for information. The victim of the assault, a 26-year-old man, remains critically ill in hospital.

Attack on delivery driver

On Monday, 27 May at approximately 17.10 hours, police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) officers responded to reports of a man assaulted in Globe Road, E2. The victim they found at Globe Road had only been in the UK a few months and was working as a delivery driver at the time of the attack.

Police think the victim was assaulted by a group of men armed with a bat in an initial altercation on Roman Road a few minutes previously.

Victim fighting for his life

“This was a violent and unprovoked attack on a young man who is now fighting for his life,” said investigating officer, Detective Constable Megan Bushell.

“We really need the public to help us by coming forward with information no matter how trivial it may seem, it could help us move forward with our investigation.”

Suspicion of GBH

Three men have been arrested so far.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on the night of Monday, 27 May on suspicion of GBH and was bailed pending further enquiries.

Attempted murder

Two other men,aged 26 and 20, were arrested on Thursday, 30 and Friday, 31 May respectively on suspicion of attempted murder. They were also bailed pending further enquiries.
