Proposal for all day alcohol sales at new Wapping High Street restaurant (former site of Bordello)

The new owners of the restaurant on the old site of Il Bordello in Wapping High Street have applied for an all-day alcohol sales license. Comments on the application have to be made by 1st November – this Thursday.

Il Bordello itself is of course still going strong in its new home at Metropolitan Wharf, 70 Wapping Wall, Wapping, E1W 3SS just a short walk away and as usual, you have to book well in advance! (Extra garlic bread for Moley thanks!).

Proposed hours of alcohol sales

Lola Hospitality Limited, the new owner/leaseholder, has applied for the hours during which the sale of ‘alcohol by retail and provision of late night refreshment’ is allowed to be:

  • Monday 10.00 – 24.00
  • Tuesday 10.00 – 24.00
  • Wednesday 10.00 – 24.00
  • Thursday 10.00 – 24.00
  • Friday 10.00 – 24.00
  • Saturday 10.00 – 24.30 (half past midnight in plain English)
  • Sunday 12.00 – 24.00

Many thanks to local resident @BeatriceStandUp for spotting the teeny weeny sign and @WappingLondon for telling the rest of us about it this morning.

What’s in Wapping asks if residents can make email or online representations as there seems no way of doing this at the moment on the Tower Hamlets Council Licensing web page?

Update: Seems we can! Email for representations is Licensing@towerhamlets.gov.uk

It seems we can follow Tower Hamlets Council Licensing updates using the #lbthlicensing hashtag on Twitter – but the last update was in September 2016 so this might not be that useful.

Note: This page was updated at 11.10 on 30 October 2018 because we got the name of the company running the new restaurant completely wrong! A perfect – if accidental – example of how small posters stuck on windows are not very useful.

  1. Do you mean to lookup London Hospitality Ltd – the notice seems to say Lola Hospitality Ltd….
