Women walking alone in the E14 area, especially Blackwall Way, have been urged by Tower Hamlets police to remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings after a series of sexual assaults.
Nine assaults in five weeks
There have been nine assaults in five weeks. All the attacks, which involved sexual touching, took place between Thursday, 6 September and Thursday, 11 October between the hours of 18:30 and 20:40hrs.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, around 6ft tall and of heavy build.
He approaches lone women and touches them over their clothing.
The suspect has been seen riding a bicycle.
Extra patrols in Blackwall Way area
Additional police patrols have been put in place and local neighbourhood officers are working with Tower Hamlets CID to identify the suspect.
Be aware, be alert
In the meantime police urge anyone, especially women who are walking alone, to be alert at all times.
Appeal for others victims to contact police
The police also wish to speak with any victims who have not yet come forward as they may have valuable information which may help the police identify the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to call the CID at the Central East Command Unit based in Tower Hamlets by dialling 101 or contacting Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
