Lutfur Rahman’s Aspire Party, the former Mayor’s very own political organisation, has its formal launch event for its mayoral and councillor candidates at the Regents Lake venue in Bow Wharf at 6pm tomorrow.
Unusually for a political party in the UK this is an invitation only event.
The only candidate name on the official invitation is that of Cllr. Ohid Ahmed, generally regarded as the proxy candidate for Lutfur Rahman who cannot stand for elected office until 2020.
Despite not standing for elected office the ex-Mayor has been out and about canvassing for Aspire…
For those who, like the Wapping Mole, have not been invited to the Aspire event we only have to wait until Monday 9th April until the official publication of the official list of Statement of Persons Nominated!
A bit of a mystery
Then we can find out exactly the Aspire party candidates are.
For both readers who are not political geeks the Statement of Persons Nominated is the public declaration of who all the candidates are. Well, say they are. This is Tower Hamlets remember.
The Aspire party has been less than revealing in publicising their candidates and they do not seem to have a website. Odd that.
