Two men from Tower Hamlets, one a Wapping resident, have received long sentences for a gang related shooting in September 2016.
23-year-old Kasru Abdul of Raine Street and 21-year-old Arif Ahmed of Durward Street have been sentenced to 17 years and 15 years imprisonment respectively after being found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Both were found guilty on Friday, 16 February at the Old Bailey and were sentenced on Wednesday, 28 March at the same court.
Ernest Street shooting
The shooting took place in broad daylight on a busy housing estate in Ernest Street, Whitechapel.
A 21-year-old male was shot in the leg causing serious injury.
“Two violent and dangerous individuals have been taken off the capital’s street, which is excellent news for Londoners,” said DS Barry Hart, who led the investigation.
The motive for the assault was a gang-related feud over a female.
