Poplar HARCA Chrisp Street Market regeneration activity roundup

There is lots of activity surrounding the proposal by Poplar HARCA to regenerate Chrisp Street Market at the moment so we thought we would provide you with a general round up of what’s going on.

You can find some basic information about the Chrisp Street Market scheme on the Poplar HARCA site here or pop in to the Chrisp Street Management office at 19 Market Square.

Public meeting at Shukran

First off there is a public meeting at Shukran, 233 East India Dock Road, London, E14 0EG (nearest station All Saints) on Wednesday 14th February 2018 at 6.30 pm. All welcome.

For those of you who missed the previous meeting here is a video showing mayoral candidate Cllr. Ohid Ahmed (Independent Group) making his views felt.

All very emotional.

Strong PATH support

The meeting has been organised by the People’s Alliance of Tower Hamlets Party (PATH) and their mayoral candidate Cllr. Rabina Khan will be attending as well as PATH councillor candidates for Lansbury Ward Syed Ansar Miah, Abdul Salam Sheikh and Md. Fakar Uddin.

Save Chrisp Street Market petition

There is also a petition circulating and the Save Chrisp Street Market people have kindly sent us a copy which you can see below and of course there is an online version on Change.org here.

Chrisp Street Market planning application

The planning application for the Chrisp Street Market regeneration scheme takes place this week the Council’s Strategic Development Committee on Thursday, 15th February, 2018 7.00 p.m.You can see the planning document here (PDF).

One thing of interest is that the meeting flyer clearly states that “Strictly no food or drinks will be provided”. Bit tight that, not much of a treat, but still worth going along.

As someone who lives in Langdon park, Chrisp Street market is a hole and should be redeveloped. Although I’m conflicted as Ohid Ahmed is an idiot, so I’m in favour of anything that puts him in his place.
