Police charge man with Burdett Road acid attack

Police investigating a noxious substance attack on a man and a woman in Burdett Road, Bow E3 on Tuesday, 4 July have charged a man.

Mustafa Ahmed, 19 (23.07.97) of Musberry Street, E1 was charged on Monday, 17 July with one count of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) and one count of attempted wounding with intent to do GBH (both contrary to Section 18 – Offences Against The Person Act).

He will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 18 July.

Both victims, a man aged in his 20s and a woman aged in her 40s, were discharged from hospital following treatment.

Ahmed was arrested on Sunday, 16 July.

Three other men arrested have been released.

The incident was investigated by Tower Hamlets CID. Enquiries continue.
