Man arrested after five moped acid attacks in Hackney and Islington

There were five acid attacks by suspects riding a moped last night between 10.25pm and 11.37pm which the police are treating as linked.

One male in his teens has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery and remains in custody.

It is understood that none of the attacks is being treated as a race or hate crime.

Sequence of events

  1. 10.25 pm robbery in Queensbridge Road, Hackney
  2. 10.49 pm attack in Upper Street, Islington
  3. 11.05 pm attack in Shoreditch High Street, Hackney
  4. 11.18 pm robbery in Cazenove Road, Hackney
  5. 11.37 pm robbery in Chatsworth Road, Hackney

Enquiries are ongoing and officers from Hackney CID are investigating.
