Great Get Together events in Tower Hamlets honouring the spirit of Jo Cox

By on June 14, 2017 in Events

Here is a round up of all the Great Get Together events happening across Tower Hamlets from 16 to 18 June to honour the life and beliefs of Jo Cox.

Jo Cox

The whole nation is celebrating Jo’s belief that there is far more that unites us than divides and the diversity of the nation is something to be celebrated – and in a borough as gloriously diverse as Tower Hamlets we can all lead the way.

Jo’s death hit Wapping particularly hard as Jo lived with her husband Brendan and two children in a houseboat on the river.

We miss her still and always will.

However Jo would be the last person to want us to feel sad and the first person to want everyone to have a party together! So that is what we are going to do.

Tower Hamlets Council has organised a free event at Victoria Park that will have live music on the bandstand by East London Arts & Music (ELAM) and dads are invited to take part in a very special Father’s Day mini Olympics.

There will be plenty of activities to keep children entertained at what looks set to be the biggest community party since the Jubilee. The fun starts at 1pm. Don’t forget to bring a picnic and food to share!

The council has also provided 11 grants to community groups to organise events up until 17 July so residents who are observing Ramadan can join in too.

The information you have is incorrect! THE PICNIC IN THE PARK is from 12/4pm on Sunday 18th, Wapping Gardens, organised by St Patrick’s. Games for all, including table tennis tournament and staged musical entertainment .

    • Mark Baynes says:

Apologies for the error but as your organisation failed to provide LW with any information we had to publish what we understood to be correct at the time.
