Wapping FC battle Custom House for Essex Alliance Division Three cup

By on May 9, 2017 in Football, Sport, Tower Hamlets

This Wednesday our very own Wapping Youth FC will be facing their League rivals Custom House for the Essex Alliance Division Three Cup with the very real chance of winning both league and cup in their first season.

The Essex Alliance Division Three Cup Final takes place at Dagenham & Redbridge FC, Victoria Rd, Dagenham RM10 7XL on Wednesday 10th May 2017, 7.30pm kick-off.

Custom House have trailed Wapping FC throughout the season and ended the season a narrow three points behind them.

A previous meeting ended in a 3–2 away victory and Custom House held Wapping to a 1–1 draw in the last game of the season at home.

Final to be closely fought

Statistics forecast this game is to be very closely fought with either Wapping FC securing the double at their first attempt and leaving Custom House empty handed or the teams sharing the season’s silverware.

Wapping FC aim to be one of the biggest clubs in Tower Hamlets within the National League System following the precedent set by Sporting Bengal, Tower Hamlets FC & Bethnal Green, and the local success of Wapping Hockey Club.

The first team was started last summer when the success of our Under–21 team was developed into a flagship Senior Team for the Wapping Youth FC organisation.

Remarkable first season for Wapping FC

Despite getting off to a slow start by losing 5–1 in the Fenton Cup, Wapping embarked on a historic first season winning run and remained unbeaten in it’s division for 16 games and so becoming League Champions in it’s very first season, a remarkable achievement that heralds great things for the club.

The team is still young but have high ambitions and hope to start it’s journey with a historic first season by securing the double at it’s first attempt.

Whose name will be first on the cup?

As the inaugural competition for Division Three, the winner of the final will have the honour of being the very first name engraved on the trophy, with both sides being very eager to add cup success to a solid campaign in the league too.

Custom House are returning finalists and have been at Dagenham last year in the Division Two Cup where they went down 3–2 to a dramatic late winner by Chingford Athletic Reserves.

Our local Wapping football team have already secured the Division Three league title having secured the point they needed on the last day of the season against great rivals, Custom House after a season-long battle.

Key players to watch

The man to watch within the Wapping ranks is Fuad Ibrahim who has managed to net himself 23 goals in just 17 matches.

There have also been 13 goals apiece from Adel Mouaden and Abdulwahid Zerkouki.
