A night walk through peaceful Wapping

By on August 7, 2016 in Environment, Photographs

As a balance to some of the stories we have been running recently our weekly editorial meeting decided to just write about something normal.

So we sent the LW Normal Things (So Normal As To Be Almost Dull) Team out last night to have a wander around and take the air.

The pirate ships at Tobacco Dock looked very lovely at twilight, almost as lovely as the canal. The Shard had a visitor in the shape of a crescent moon.

Shadwell Basin was very tranquil, with just a few people enjoying the evening and the anglers keeping busy staying away from their families. And catching fish.

What would a Wapping Night Wander be without Mr. Burns? You can just see him doing a spot of nocturnal fishing right in the middle of the above pic in the water in the middle of the steps.

IMG_8266Contrary to what some might think Hermitage Park is usually a lovely place to be. Just a few small groups of people sitting on the grass and chatting over a glass of wine and tourists seeing our local bridge for the first time and exclaiming “Wow!”

So that was an hours walk around Wapping with not a whisper or hint of any Anti Social Behaviour whatsoever. Lovely evening, a glorious part of London. Enjoy it – and look after it.
