Tower Bridge to close for three months

By on June 9, 2016 in Transport

Tower Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic for three months between Saturday 1 October 2016 to Friday 30 December 2016. Seriously. This is not a joke. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our local bridge will be closed to vehicles.

Fortunately there will only be pedestrian closures for three weekends during the works.

Our local bridge needs a lot of care and attention including replacing timber decking and re-surfacing the road, hence the need to close it.

You can read full details of the closure on the Transport for London site.

You can also have a giggle at the hopelessly optimistic ‘impact map’ below.

However being stuck in the inevitable traffic jams from hell that will arise from the closure is not a laughing matter.

But there is no way round it – literally.
