The Wapping cygnets are flying away (photos)

By on July 30, 2015 in Swans, Wildlife

The Wapping cygnets are all grown up now (well, almost) and they are beginning to fly away. One has already left so if you want to see them before they go best you get down to Wapping canal now.

It only seems a few weeks ago that they were born.

For those of you who can’t make it – or are just bone idle – here are some photographs our Wildlife Rangers have taken over the last few days of the cygnets practising flying.

Not the best quality photographs this year but we have had other things to concentrate on.

If you do go to see the cygnets doing their thing all you need to do is go down to the eastern end of the Vinegar Quay part of the canal and wait.

And wait.

And wait.

They only fly one way – towards Vaughan Way.

Oh and take some nice porridge oats – they love them and much better than all that bread.
