It’s hard work on the electoral campaign trail. Tough work. Gritty work. Thirsty work.
So it was kind of one caring Facebook user to send LW this charming photo of ex-Mayor Lutfur Rahman and his protege Rabina Khan taking a break for a cuppa while they were out campaigning together.
Ahhh! Cute innit?
Rabina is always at pains to say she is her own woman.
Odd then that the ex-Mayor is dedicating so much of his time helping Rabina.
Maybe Lutfur is advising Rabina how to give Tower Hamlets a fresh start by rooting out corruption and establishing a lunch club in every street?
Here are some quotes about the mutual admiration society that is Rabina and Lutfur:
“All I have achieved so far is because of Lutfur Rahman,” said the councillor at Thursday’s programme. (bdnews24.com)
“The work the last administration has done is why I’m proud to have been a part of it, and why I’m grateful for the former mayor’s endorsement.” (www.rabina4mayor.com)
East London Lines
Rabina Khan, a member of Tower Hamlets Council, was introduced by Rahman last Thursday as his party’s candidate following his own removal from office for “corrupt and illegal” electoral practices by the High Court.
Lutfur Rahman names woman he wants to succeed him as mayor.
East London Advertiser
“But the night belonged to his protégé Rabina Khan, who was first elected a Labour councillor in 2010 for Shadwell scraping home with just three votes majority.
So that’s all perfectly clear then.
Update 22:08 05 June 2015
Much to the amusement of the dedicated LW social media team they noticed an advert for a familiar looking face next to the Facebook version of this post.
Have a look at the screen grab below and see if you can work out who it is?
Yes that’s right, every time someone visits this particular Love Wapping Facebook post about Rabina Khan out to tea with the corrupt ex-Mayor, the Facebook advertising machine does some sums, adds up 2 + 2 and makes 5 and gives our dear readers some more information about Rabina.
You could not make it up.
Top marks to Rabina’s Tower Hamlets First social media team for spending a few quid on Facebook to boost a post.
We look forward to their Twitter campaign.
