As part of their ongoing arduous training yesterday our entire Wildlife Rangers Team went for a trip over to Surrey Quays and spotted this weird looking tortoise in the water by BHS.
This curious looking turtle slowly poked its head out of the water and took its time wandering around the green slime.
Attempts to properly identify this reptile have failed to date. Is it a native species or is it an alien species? If you know, let us known. Bloody turtles, coming over here and taking our jobs!
The swans at Surrey Quays are still sitting on their eggs while the Wapping Cygnets are growing by the day.
The swans nest is right by the footpath and brings a lot of pleasure to shoppers and residents.
Our Rangers might organise a trip over to Rotherhithe one weekend to have a look at what Southwark Council has done with the old docks there and get some ideas for how we can improve Wapping canal.
Reality is that our wildlife on the canal will not improve until there is a better environment for them.
And of course this will make the canal look better for us as well – bargain!
These coots thoroughly approve of the way Southwark Council has managed the old docks.
Not sure we want odd turtles in the canal though.
