Stop spending cuts to Children’s Services in Tower Hamlets

By on October 10, 2014 in Meetings, News

On Wednesday 15th October 1.30-3pm there is a meeting at the One O’Clock Club in Wapping Gardens, (off Tench St) with our local councillors and Tower Hamlets Council Cabinet members to talk about the proposed cuts (aka ‘Savings Proposals’) to Children Centres in Tower Hamlets.

The children of Tower Hamlets need you to be there.

Families who are in need of the essential services provided by Childrens Services will be directly affected by cuts to the Sure Start services.

Come along and have your say

Please come along and have your say and help explain to those who control the decision making process the reality of these cuts.

Local charity Community Solutions has asked all Tower Hamlets Council Cabinet members  and our local councillors Denise Jones (Labour) and Julia Dockerill* (Conservative) to attend.

Unfortunately Mayor Lutfur does not seem to be answering questions from residents regarding these cuts as this East London Advertiser story illustrates.

This is your chance to tell your elected representatives why the Children Centre services are so essential to parents and children and the Wapping community.

Community Solutions staff will be able to share details of the types of services that are currently offered and the benefit that they deliver to us and the community as a whole.

Cuts consultation extended

Each savings proposal has a consultation survey that you can take part in by going to the Your Borough Your Voice consultation page . Just click on the relevant survey- it should take no longer than 10 minutes of your time.

The consultation period has now been extended to 19th October 2014.

For more information call Christine on 07891138950

* Cllr. Dockerill has been in touch to say that she can’t make the meeting as she has to be at Parliament on Wednesday but has asked for concerned residents to either visit her at her surgery or email her. Details here.
